Damn son, where has the time gone? With almost five years(!) passing since our last episode you may have thought ASOT was dead but not yet! We was just hibernatin’ in the trap, waiting for the right time to come back. And given the strange and tough times we’ve all been going through, the time finally felt right. So we figured we would do whatever we could to help and bring back some light, fun, uplifting and turnt trap and bass to your in home, in car, and backyard dance floors. So we back (for now) with 100+ minutes of trap related tunes from recent times. The trap well has dried up a bit over the years making material harder to come by, but the trap never dies. Best believe we’ll do our best to keep bringing it back from the dead, one episode at a time.

Aww shit, and just when you thought we were gone and trap was fading then bang! A State Of Trap comes back with 2+ hours and 57 songs in Episode 34. Like all genres that taste popularity, trap is evolving; but it’s definitely not dead. As a testament to that ASOT34 features more songs leaning towards the rap side of things than usual while spanning across all trap influenced genres from the big room to the bedroom to the chill to the raging and from the gutter to the streets. It’s quite a sonic ride. So strap in and take advice a wise man once said, “Buy the ticket. Take the ride.”

A State Of Trap: Episode 20 (The Variety Pack)

Trap has come a long way since it’s recent rebirth and this week’s variety pack mix is a prime example of that featuring 32 fresh (but varied) tracks in just over 90 minutes. Ranging from Trap styled music influenced by the Mainstream, EDM Festival music, Ambient/Downtempo, Rap, Trance, House, R&B, Juke, and whatever else, this mix features a little of everything. As Trap’s popularity grows it’s inevitably becoming more influenced and combined with all kinds of electronic music, creating endless subgenres and loosening the boundaries of what might be considered actual “Trap”, for better or worse. And whether you like it or not, this trend is only going to continue as Trap grows in the EDM and mainstream music scenes and as it goes, alienating some initial fans along the way. One thing we can confidently say is that Trap isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and A State Of Trap will be here for the ride.
