Trap has come a long way since it’s recent rebirth and this week’s variety pack mix is a prime example of that featuring 32 fresh (but varied) tracks in just over 90 minutes. Ranging from Trap styled music influenced by the Mainstream, EDM Festival music, Ambient/Downtempo, Rap, Trance, House, R&B, Juke, and whatever else, this mix features a little of everything. As Trap’s popularity grows it’s inevitably becoming more influenced and combined with all kinds of electronic music, creating endless subgenres and loosening the boundaries of what might be considered actual “Trap”, for better or worse. And whether you like it or not, this trend is only going to continue as Trap grows in the EDM and mainstream music scenes and as it goes, alienating some initial fans along the way. One thing we can confidently say is that Trap isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and A State Of Trap will be here for the ride.

A State Of Trap returns again with episode 16 and is (as expected) once again a live mix chalk full or originals and remixes to make this a true Trap/Trap Experience. Well, that and the fact that I happened to feature two different JT trap remixes and then after doing so realized that his own new album the 20/20 Experience just came out this week so selah. Anyways, coincidences aside ASOT 16 comes through (as usual) with 26 quality tunes of the trap/trill variety for your listening enjoyment. This week A State of Trap Episode 14 is brought to you by “shotguns” and barley wine. Well, mostly just shotguns; however, this mix was recorded right after going to the annual San Francisco Barley Wine Festival (which is great), getting good and crunk and then inspired to play some bumpin’ trap beats. And since it’s been such a long hiatus since ASOT 12, there were all sorts of tracks to catch up on and ASOT 14 delivers with 25 trap/trill bangers. But don’t worry there are plenty of other trap hits to come and the next episode is right around the corner. As usual, checkout the full track listing below (or via mixcloud).
